Why should you transfer your slides?

  • Your slides are slowly deteriorating. Even in dark, cool environments they  change color and are subject to scratching, dust accumulation and fungal stains.  Digitally archiving them will save them in a lossless format.
  • Once converted to the digital world you can more easily view your slides just as they are using your computer or your television.
  • You can use the images you have created for video productions and memorbilia gift products.

Why choose Blue Ribbon to transfer your slides?

  • We scan in TIFF and convert to JPG and give you both. (See Tech Notes)
  • We scan at 4000 DPI so you can print enlargements if desired.
  • We don't send your job to a foregin country.
  • We review each slide after scanning and manually enhance as needed.

Pick-up
In the Yakima area we pick up photos on Thursdays for free.  Any other day, $15.00.  Call 469-7187 to schedule pickup.

Shipping- You can ship your slides to us.  Click here for instructions.

Additional CD or DVD copies are $4.00 per disc.

MAINTAINING SLIDE # SEQUENCE- We change scan settings for different sizes of slides and for Kodachrome.  In order to do this we pre-group slides by size and type.  If you want us to maintain strict slide # sequence, it takes more time and that is why we charge more.  If approximate slide order is ok, we will group by tray for which there is no extra charge.

TIFF VS JPG-
PRO TIFF-
You can make better enlargement prints from TIFF scanned slides.
You won’t loose quality after manipulating a TIFF scanned slide.
CON TIFF-
Large files take more space on the computer or on a data DVD (160 images per dvd-TIFF, 1600 images per dvd-JPG) and take more time to transfer.
PRO JPG- Smaller files transfer quickly and take up less room on storage media.
CON JPG- Every time you resave a JPG image after cropping or rotating the quality is less.
